SKA Band
About Me:
Some may remember us from the early/mid/late 90's. We broke up around 2000. ..had a few deaths. a couple of babies. a few other bands...you can read all the sordid details in one of our blogs im sure...for now, we are back to reclaim the title of "THE BAND TO END ALL BANDS, or at least the Band that WILL END Skif Dank!"...thank you, we accept. for we cannot avoid our destiny........................................................... After all the hardships, we realized we had had soo much fun this last time around it was hard to let it go. Along ith Originators Uncle Billy and Sparky Marc...the band is squared off with our original t-boner jon/C-SAW, ole friend WES B. from central floridas own Fortitude and the original SuckaPunch filling out our BIG BASS shoes (sometimes stealing billys guitar) and then newest member, our old friend Otila (dandelion wine, consider this, Fortitude) on violin (sometimes stealing wes' bass). working on a new record and taking this all in like we are a new band...cuz, we are. come check us out!
...hey, here it is. most of the last 12 years has revolved around this band that i started with Uncle Billy and Jim N. then came Gabe B after about a year. we started playing out all over, mostly the Blackeyed Susan in Daytona Beach. the WORLD famous BLACKEYED SUSAN. we prolly logged 150 shows there in 2 years...and then started to make our way thru Central Florida and eventually up the eastcoast and then across the state. then we got Jon C-saw to fill out the horn section. after 2 cassettes and our first CD in the early 90's Jim and Jon left. We picked up Jeremy V. on bass and our friend Zach brought in a friend on trombone named Buddy. well, not long after Z picked up a trumpet and then we had 3! gabe, zach, buddy, jeremy, marc and billy. then we put out our 2nd CD in 97. we did about 1000 shows in 8 years and had alot of great and not so great times.
i guess tween 97-2000 alot of things happened... buddy left. Sara came in and showed us that the newest person, with the least amount of parts, still played better then the rest of us. then Dirt Hooligan stormed into our lives. brought us up to a new level. his bass skills were astounding and energy untiring. its all a jumble now, but Jeff from the Nature Kids wound up playing bass with us, possibly b4 and after Dirt was with us our first time.
we broke up in 2000 cuz of the millenium scare(ok, maybe not REALLY Zach...jeeesh)...and then somehow wound up back together in 2003 for a 10 year reunion trip around florida. that was soo much fun we kept it up and started writting new songs. then tragically on july 3rd 2003 our bassist Dirt Hooligan was killed by an 18 wheeler in tampa... we struggled for a bit to figure out what we would do and played a few memorial show for this great showman. eventually, we decided to carry on in the name of family. A longtime friend named Wes B. from 4t2d came back into our lives to fill the bass slot. at about the same time, C-Saw came back into the fold!! we have many great friends and band members to thank for our longevity. we might never be rich, but at least we can have a good time. hahaha...as long as Uncle Billy keeps his tween song schtick to under 10 minutes!!

I'm glad you guys decided to join. It's been ages since I've seen Skif Dank play. I think the last time I saw you guys was purely serendipitously in Fort Myers in 99. Before I moved down here I use to go to all your shows in Gville... my dorm was across the street from the Purple Porpoise and I was at the Covered Dish, Kate's Fish Camp or Hardback anytime there was a good punk or ska show. Damn I miss the good old days!
