About Me:
I'm 19, I spend a lot of my time listening to music and writing, I didn't really devote myself to any one genre until I started listening to ska about a year ago and I am sad to say that I still know VERY little about the genre. I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere Ohio for college, and no one where I am has even really heard of ska, so I'm just looking for some new music, people to talk to about it, etc.

A couple of my friends and I are trying to start an all female ska band on campus, it's not going terribly because there is a severe lack of interest, but we're having a good time trying!

Look up the following bands on google or myspace and you're sure to find something: Goldfinger, RxBandits, A Billion Ernies, Common Rider, The Fad, Filibuster, The Suicide Machines, Public Access, The Best of the Worst

im not much of an expert of third wave but i can recommend 2tone and skinhead reggae. phyllis dillon, alton ellis, laurel aitken, the skatalites, the english beat, the specials, the selector are a good place to start. try looking into trojan records box sets. they have skinhead reggae, 2tone, ska, rude boy box sets. some of the tracks are rubbish but overall good :) hope that helped

We haven't played in Portland yet, but check back with us during the summer. There is a chance we might try making it up there!

depends on what kind of ska you're looking for. There's Ska-core which is like hardcore punk rock with some saxophones and trumpets. Theres classic ska. Two-tone, and third-wave. two of my all time favorite ska bands that I do not see on your list The Scoflaws, and The Pietasters. Check em out.
