Ska music hit the British airwaves during the 1960's and became very popular amongst teenage music lovers throughout the country. Internet radio presenter
I'm originally from Hampshire but now based in North Yorkshire.
My interest in radio comes from many years of making compilation tapes and CD's using old radio jingles to link the music. I have had a strong passion for music all my life and I'm rarely without a music player of some type. I was a Mod/Scooterboy/Skinhead through the 1980's and I have been involved in many different music scenes over the years, but with a constant alliance to the Scootering scene.
I started presenting shows on Harrogate Hospital Radio in March 2007, ranging from patients request shows to my own 50's & 60's oldies show. I started presenting shows on internet stations during the 2nd half of 2008 and I've had shows aired on several stations online since then.
I now present my TKRS shows exclusively on Ace Radio. "TKRS" as a radio show originated as "Teenage Kicks" in February 2009 as a look back to the hosts own schooldays and featured music from the late 70's and early 80's. The show evolved into a Scootering/Punk format and was presented in that way until mid July 2011. From that point it took a more Alternative style and now features a mix of Punk, Ska & Soul. This format manages to incorporate a wide range of music including Psycho/Rockabilly, Oi! and Celtic Folk/Punk. This show now broadcasts every Wednesday with the Reggae & Ska show (One Step Beyond) also broadcasting on Fridays.
