For me it's like if I don't listen to some ska, any variation of ska it doesn't matter I feel this empty void in my head

and no matter what I do to not listen to ska for a day it's like I voice in my head tells me " there's always a time for some ska so just pick up your iPod and listen to some"

I have even gotten in trouble at church for listening to my iPod because I couldn't resist listening to it so I can here some ska but that's just me.

What about you

Anyone who has so much as glanced at one of my excessively worded posts knows that I take ska music and ska culture rather seriously. Though my taste in music is ridiculously vast - from funk, British metal and alterna-rock to 20's jazz and all forms of music within the gothic subculture - ska/Mod is #1 in terms of style and culture, in that I feel a real sense of communal connection with it that I don't get from most other music.

I don't get all hippie-ish about my devotion to the genre: I don't advocate that "feel good, free love, peace, harmony" bullshit, I just appreciate the rhythm, the fashion and the overall broad diversity of the genre. Dressing up in a suit, skinny tie and wingtips, heading up to the Bad Manners show and dancing up a storm...it just feels right. So, so right.

I guess my "intensity" consists of constantly going to shows, constantly buying obscure albums, frequenting online ska communities, rocking the fashions from time to time (I have a ska patch jacket, a rack of suits and ties and one day a scooter), street teaming for local ska bands and writing my own ska music so as to start my own ska band. The latter two are perhaps the single most important thing that fans can do to support their scene.
Listening to ska in church, thats Skatanic, hahahahaha

As long as it's not Mephiskapheles, I think God would be okay with it. ;)
Fairly high but im also a big fan of hardcore punk and metal
I have to listen to Ska freaks radio at least everyday. When it's down I feel incomplete. Ska is the only music I will listen to when I have to sit down and work because it keeps me focused...most of the time... I have even though of forming a wizard rock ska band because the wizard rock genre is missing out on ska big time.
I consider ska music a big part of my life. It cheers me up, it helps me think. I'd truly be lost without it.
Ska music has a way of completely changing my mood. Somethings happens, I can get so pissed, just ready to kill...I grab my phone and put on some FIF or Toasters or something, and its like a 180 degree turn. Every time. This music saved my life, honestly. It sounds dumb, but I've had some hard times in recent years, and I probably would've given up and whacked myself had it not been for ska. I was homeless in the spring of '07, and 'Strictly Rude' is what helped me through that. You know, how certain songs or albums bring back a specific memory...like 'A Flowery Song' by FIF was on my stereo my last day of high school. The MU330 album 'Press' brings back memories of my brother. I can honestly say I'd probably be dead and gone without ska, and thats why it will always be in my soul.
I can t listenig one style always and always around but ska music I very combination whith early reggae from late 60s and rocksteady or skapunk.I listenig also much punk and oipunk, hardcore and Northern Soul, funky, etno and more....You could say that punk styles (as HC or oipunk, punkrock) I listen most after ska.Sometimes I'm tired always listen only ska or related styles but 70% my music what I listen is ska and reggae already 6 years.Recently I give a care on wearing "rude" stile I wearing harington jacket, flat cap or porkpie hat, levis jeans and style boots.Too I writing fanzin about ska and reggae "PORK PIE".Now isn t posers bucause I live by it already 6 years.
I like it enough to spend about 30$ a month plus the cost of new music to run my ska radio site to help keep the world entertained. I also listen to my own radio site most of the day unless Im listening to a ska podcast or radio show. I just got a phone that supports streaming radio, so I can now listen in the car to ska sites and programs if Im tired of my selection I have with me.
