Especially leads, but even just any with a permanent female band member. I know of a few, but not too many. I know it's a male dominated genre but, still, there's gotta be more ladies out there.

Here's an old thread: 'Women in Contemporary Ska'. It lists a bunch of them, from trad to ska-punk.

Off the top of my head (really!), I remember Franceska, Highball Holiday, Suspect Bill, Isaac Green and the Skalars, Ocean 11, early Mobtown, the Checkered Cabs, Mealticket, The Robustos and the Usuals.
sweet! and only one repeat. thank you much :)
the dreamlets
kinky coo coos
the pepperpots

and tons of older stuff out there

patsy todd
doreen shaffer
phyllis dillon
dawn penn
marcia griffiths
I could go on and on, but it'd be easier just to get trojan's reggae sisters box set. There were a lot more women involved in the JA scene in the early days than there are now...
THE SELECTER and the body snatchers?
and this one band called trains tone is pretty sweet.
Tip the van,
Sonic Boom Six.
for me the best voice in jamaican music is phyllis dillon, cant get enough of it!!
also check out 'long days short nights' by dawn penn, its on my page. i swear down you wont wanna stop listening to it.

dont know much about the newer bands but i heard a version of sam cookes cupid by 'the Usuals'. dont know any of there other songs or anything about this band, except her voice is gorgeouse!!

Damn! You took all my suggestions!

Well, almost all..

Police & Thieves
chase long beach and sonic boom six and kevin goes to college also the best of the worst, not to mention canon law.
We already have two other threads recommending female-fronted ska bands. Let's not start another one.

I wasn't aware of that. I don't usually go through old threads when I want to know something, I just ask. If you don't want to answer you're welcome to ignore it. Although I can't say I think it's a bad thing to repeat old thoughts, perhaps something that was missed in one of the previous threads will end up in this one. Even if that's not the case I'm pretty sure no one's being hurt by this thread and I certainly appreciate the answers. Weren't you the first one to make recommendations, anyway?
i dont know if htey have been already listed but my fav would be Metro Stylee!!!
The Impalers from San Francisco(I think) are good. I haven't seen them live, but I love the CD Blood, Rum, and Reggae.
