Doe Anyone Remember Save Ferris?
iam currently listening to them
and reminicing on the days when
i was obssessed with them..

Yeah, they weren't bad. One of the very few OC ska punk bands I can listen to without going into fits. I even liked their venture into pop/rock in the later years.
Most of the members are now in a band called Starpool, which is more or less a direct rip-off of Save Ferris' music, except not nearly as...entertaining. I have no idea whatever happened to Monique Powell, though....

you can't really say starpool is a ripoff of save ferris when all but 2 memebers were in the band (and since brian mashburn wrote most of SF's songs, monique powell doing save ferris stuff without save ferris is more a rip off) i love mo dearly, but let's give credit where credit is due. she does have an amazing voice, but i feel starpool holds their own. they actually only ever really perform one save ferris song that was ever released, and maybe 2 more that were "new" save ferris songs before they broke up.
i'm actually seeing starpool tonight, and am stoked, cause they put on a great show. i think allan has very similar stage presence to monique... just you know, without boobs ;-)
i do really hope save ferris will do a reunion show. i was at their last real show (monique booked a couple shows as save ferris without the rest of the band and i don't think those count) and didn't even know it was their last show till after the fact. it would have been nice to know i was seeing them for the "last time".

The reason why Starpool sounds exactly like Save Ferris is BECAUSE all but two members were formerly in SF. The band IS Save Ferris with the exception of two members; you can't expect a bunch of members of a band to get back together in a new band and sound completely different. Sure, there's a bit more of a rock influence in their work, but the majority of their songs are just straight-up SF with a male vocalist.
This isn't to say that I don't entirely like Starpool. They have a handful of songs I like, and they do put on an okay show.

i really enjoy Save Ferris. I only have that first CD from 97 not the 'modified' one where they all look dark and depressed. I have heard samples and didn't dig it too much. Their songs are very simple and catchy and its good to listen to every couple of weeks. i would probably see a reunion show too, if there ever was one. Monique got fat tho. :(
