Can We Get a Calendar Going?
Just wondering if anyone has any interest of getting a gig calendar going on this site. The only one I know of is OC ska which is updated occassionally. I suspect this site sees more traffic, so thought I would ask if we could have one here....

This has been something I want to do and have toiled over various issues. First is the scope of these sites... because we're a global community, it would be a mess of catastrophic proportions if we had one calendar for everyone. I'd like to look into possible finding some calendar widgets or a service that we could link to on a regional basis. For instance... a calendar for Florida SKA events, one for California SKA events and so on and then create a listing of these sections. Then again, the people who have created various groups based on scenes could create a more comprehensive calendar in their own groups. I'd like this to be an open calendar so that bands who are touring could add dates to each region they'd be touring through. If anyone has any recommendations of web based collaborative calendar services that would be easy to implement into SKA Summit and SKAspot, let me know... I'd love to see (and make) this happen!

We've been waiting for Ning to make a calendar available and we will wait no longer! Many people have been asking about a calendar and I've been looking for an easy solution that will allow SKA Summit members, SKA Toolbar Users, and SKAspot Visitors to add events to a comprehensive and searchable calendar that isn't location specific (that was a freakin mouthful!).... and I decided for the time being, it might be smart to create and use a group on Yahoo's "Upcoming" Service. Although it requires users to sign up for an "Upcoming Account" to join and add events... it's the best I could come up with. I encourage anyone who has taken part in this discussion (or anyone interested in posting a date for an upcoming show) to check it out, give it a try and we'll see what happens!
