June's SKAspot Band of the Month is one of New York City's still thriving Moon Ska era bands. The Slackers have been playing their brand of reggae, rock, soul and jazz infused ska for almost 20 years and they're still at it. Unless you've been living under a rock or are new to ska, chances are you've heard The Slackers or one of the several side projects in which members of the band have paticipated. The Slackers have appeared on every edition of the popularHellcat Records ska and punk compilation Give 'em the Boot along with more than 10 of their own studio albums in their discography. With such a repertoire, incredible talent, and a enduring vitality as ska legends, it is no wonder that The Slackers have been voted into the SKAspot Hall of Fame!
